Samsung Galaxy S III vs HTC One X Review

I think the competitor of Samsung Galaxy S III is HTC One X. Both are hottest gadget and have almost same specs. This similarity make consumer confused to choose which one they should own. Samsung just launched their Galaxy S III last May while HTC One X launch a month earlier. Both smartphone using same OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and support 3G/4G connectivity (depending on variants) and also come with an array of sensors and connectivity, including Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS and so on. So, which one is your choice? Galaxy S III or HTC One X? Here I show you the comparison.

Screen comparison
Galaxy S III use Super AMOLED HD 4.8 inch which previously the technology applied on Galaxy Note while HTC One X use Super IPS LCD2 4.7 inch. The different between AMOLED and IPS is AMOLED looks better in dark conditions, where a traditional backlight become visible in areas of black, but IPS offers more accurate color reproduction and whiter whites than Super AMOLEDs.

Processor comparison
The Galaxy S II uses Quad core Exynos 1.4 Ghz which many reviewers said performs better than HTC One X NVidia Tegra Quad Core 1.5 GHz. It hard to feel the different between both two in multitasking, browsing and gaming but if we test using benchmarking software, it will show you the different.

Camera comparison
One of the key features of the HTC One X is its 8MP camera that boasts a f/2.0 aperture, blazing fast 4FPS burst mode. While speed and quality are 2 different things, the images turn out pretty good even on burst mode. The Galaxy S III also have 8 megapixel camera and come out with new feature called “Best Photo,” which will automatically select your best photos out of a series of eight photos taken in succession. Both smartphone have LED flash and can capture 1080p video.

Memory comparison
The truly weakness of HTC One X compared to the Galaxy S III is it not support for external memory such as microSD. The Galaxy S III comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with microSD expansion while HTC One X comes in 32GB only.

Samsung Galaxy S III price comparison chart according to telco packages

Samsung Galaxy S III become hottest gadget for next coming month. Samsung launching the gadget in the end of May in Malaysia and other countries at right time because most employees get their salary in this week. Three giant telco in Malaysia, Celcom,Maxis and Digi get their right to offer Samsung Galaxy S III  based on their packages.

In the chart below, I categorized monthly commitment as low, medium and high based on their package itself, not based on customer perspective. Example, Celcom lowest package monthly commitment is RM88 and the highest is RM250. Digi Plan is RM48 the lowest and RM88 for highest. While Maxis got only two plan- RM78 monthly and RM98 monthly which I rate as low and medium respectively. The lowest price Galaxy S III is RM999 with 24 months contract offer by Digi and Maxis. However, this is promotion only, so you have grab it early. [Read more...]

Samsung Galaxy S III Gets 9 Million Preorders on 100 Carriers

Korea Economic Daily has a piece reporting on the huge success that the Galaxy S III is, ahead of its debut in stores. Apparently, the device has already received 9 million pre-orders from 100 carriers all over the world. The info comes from a Samsung official who remained anonymous.

The figure is very impressive, especially if you consider that the Galaxy S II took 10 months to ship 20 million units, while the new Galaxy S took a mere 2 weeks to reach almost half of that number. Also, the preorders are better than shipments, since they’re almost as good as sales. It looks like Samsung has hit gold once again with this model and Apple really has something to fear this time, or better said HTC and LG do, since Apple’s preorders for the iPhone 4S were much bigger and I’m sure the iPhone 5 will break records. Samsung Galaxy Note pink version in Korea

Last year, I still remember Samsung released Galaxy S2 pink version in Korea. Now, they releases Pink Galaxy Note, contrast with a white version of its Galaxy Note. This colour appealing to women but I think men also will like it too. Unfortunately, this Pink Galaxy Note only available in Korea, not for outside the country.  I believe the girl model more attractive compared to the pink Galaxy Note.
