Microsoft today unveiled the latest version of its Office software, the first ever designed specifically with tablet computers and Internet-based storage in mind. The new programs in Office 2013, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and is releasing a customer preview for users to try out.

Everything you need to know about Windows 8

Windows 8 has released Windows 8 Release Preview on early Jun 2012. Microsoft make dramatically change on its Windows OS to keep its flagship operating system relevant in a world which is increasely dominated by tablets, phones, touchscreen devices and connected cloud services.

For users, this change can be great. But we have to re-learning how to do things you’ve done for years. Windows 7 just eclipse the Windows XP as a new power of operating system in world by dominating 50 percent share market. So, what new in Windows 8? Here I share you several things about Windows 8.

Super-fast boot
The problem with every Windows OS was the boot time, but Windows 8 was solve this problem. Windows 8 boot superbly fast less than 10 second.

Hardware Requirements
You need minimum 1Ghz processor, minimum native resolution/colour depth at 1366x768px, 1GB RAM and 16GB HDD free-space.

New version Internet Explorer 10
A web browser inmtero-style which is faster than IE9. A webpage is displayed on the entire screen. It has much better standards compliance than its predecessor did, HTML5 support and superior speed.

Multi-tasking
Windows 8 is a multi-tasker like others. But the different is you can have two apps displayed simultaneously in a single window. You can have a major part for Internet Explorer and the rest of the screen for music or the media player.

Fresh interface called Metro interface
The most identical interface in Windows 8 is its new Metro interface, a bright coloured tiles that serve both as shortcuts to programs and as live widgets reporting data from the programs. It is useful for a touch screen device.

Reset/refresh
You can restore your PC to ‘like new’ condition in a matter of minutes, without having to reinstall from scratch. So, not need to format PC as usual. It same function as restore to factory setting in smartphone or PSP.

Syncing
You can sync your content in your own PC with another your own PC such as Metro apps, settings, desktop preferences, taskbar setup, browser bookmarks and many more. Just sign in your account to another PC, it will sync up over the net.

Mounting ISOs
Starting with Windows 8, users will be able to mount ISOs on virtual drives. No need to install third party software.

Mozilla set to launch a new mobile operating system

Mozilla plans to launch a new mobile operating system called Mozilla OS under its brand. They claimed get industry support from device manufacturers such as TCL Communication Technology (under Alcatel One Touch brand) and ZTE. Both company interested to manufacture the first device to feature the new Firefox OS, using Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm Incorp, the leader in smartphone platforms. The first Firefox OS device expected to debut commercially in Brazil early 2013 through Telefónica’s commercial brand, Vivo.

Mozilla OS is based on Mozilla’s Boot to Gecko project which allowing HTML5 application to access the underlying capabilities of a phone, previously available only to native applications. Mozilla and all other participants are committed to ensuring the project is fully open and the reference implementation of the required Web APIs is being submitted to W3C for standardization.

“The introduction of the open mobile OS continues the Mozilla mission to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web for users and developers.  As billions of users are expected to come online for the first time in the coming years, it is important to deliver a compelling smartphone experience that anyone can use,” said Gary Kovacs, CEO, Mozilla.

What’s new in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

We are not talking about jelly bean food. It is new Android version 4.1 which code named as Jelly Bean. Recently, Google showed off their new product, Asus Nexus 7, a cheap tablet along with another new Google software product for mobile, Android 4.1. So, what we can expect from this new upgrade OS?

Not so much we can expect because the version 4.1 seem to be small update/enhancement of current features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Here I can summarize several features that all the tech reviewer said.

Speed and Smoothness
Faster, more responsive interface throughout the system. Google made some efforts to improve this feature by creating team called “Project Butter”. Jelly Bean will sense the location and direction of your finger and predict, a few milliseconds early.

New way voice command actions
Last time, if you send a text message or type using voice command, you need internet connection. But now you can do it offline. Instagram just announced that it’s making an Android version of its app available today in the Google Play Store, formerly known as the Android Market. Since its launch in 2010, the app has been an iOS exclusive, and today after years of waiting, it’s finally up public download. The most important things is it is free.

Instagram already have 30 milion registered of iOS user and more than 1 billion photos have been uploaded to Instagram. With the addition of Android devices, these numbers are sure to grow.
