Apple’s iPad mini- everything consumer needs to know

I’m sure you’re aware of the new iPad mini that Apple introduced in San Jose on Tuesday. It is 7.9-inch screen tablet and start price at USD$329 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version, $129 more than competitor 7-inch Android tablets.

The iPad mini is as thin as pencil and as light as a pad of paper, yet packs a fast A5 microprocessor, FaceTime HD and 5 megapixel iSight camera and ultrafast wireless. The interesting is iPad’s apps in Apps Store still can be used for iPad mini.

Although the device does not have retina display like its full-sized brother, the difference didn’t seem to bother most of the people in the briefing area. Considering the price tag of $329, adding a retina display would have made the iPad mini prohibitively expensive compared to the competition.

Many analysts criticized the price tag of the iPad mini because it cost is more $130 than Kindle Fire HD and $90 than the Nexus 7. But Phil Schiller spoke to Reuters that customers won’t mind paying a little extra for an iPad because it’s a premium device.

Back to the year 2010, Steve Jobs criticized the idea of 7-inch tablets for having a lousy user experience.  “While one could increase the resolution of the display to make up some of the difference, it is meaningless unless your tablet also includes sandpaper, so that the user can sand down their fingers to around one-quarter of their present size,” he said.

However, he apparently started to reconsider later that year. An e-mail exchange revealed in the patent trial between Apple and Samsung this summer suggested that Jobs had come around to accepting the idea of a Apple working on a 7-inch tablet by the end of 2010.

While it might seem like splitting hairs, Tim Cook now went on to explain that the 7.9 inch iPad Mini has 35% more surface area than 7-inch tablets do. In this way, he says, Apple didn’t have to sacrifice too much screen “real estate” for portability. One of the user commented in the article,’Cook as well as Jobs are masters in the Art of Confusion. They DID a 7inch tablet… a beautiful one… and I want one but these comments about how the iPad Mini isn’t a 7 inch tablet are just pathetic.’ I just agreed with 35% more surface area more than other 7-inch tablets part.

Up until now, only the first-generation Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and the recently launched Google Nexus 7 were considered worthy buys. Add the iPad mini to the mix, and this particular product category has a little more hot.

ASUS launched Padfone 2- new quad-core hybrid phone+tablet dockable with LTE

This past few weeks,I’ve been working hard to create cool content for you to enjoy. Today Asus announced their new product, Padfone 2, Android smartphone and tablet hybrid device. The phone can slot in to a tablet dock to deliver a full-blown tablet experience.

Asus will launch the Padfone 2 in Europe and Asia in December, the device will be launch in Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, Asus have also said they will announce further countries at a later date.

In its release, ASUS emphasizes the PadFone combo’s battery first and foremost among its otherwise amped up specs. The PadFone 2 carries a 2140mAh pack, while the tablet component offers an impressive 5,000mAh that should keep things running for quite a while, though its capacity is a tiny bit smaller than the original PadFone’s whopping 6,600mAh, probably because the tablet’s body has been slimmed significantly to 649g.

Here’s I summarized the PadFone 2′s other specs:

  •  Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor at 1.5GHz
  •  2GB RAM
  •  4.7″ HD Super IPS+ display at 1280×720 (that’s 312 ppi) for the phone
  •  10.1″ IPS display at 1280×800 for the tablet station
  •  13 MP “high-performance” camera capable of 6 shots per second
  • Free 50GB ASUS WebStorage space for two years
  • Android 4.0.4 (which ASUS explains will be “upgradeable to Jelly Bean shortly”)

Overall, the PadFone 2 looks like a decently-spec’ed phone, and the tablet station could prove to be handy for those that want just one device experience.

The iPad Mini Will Be Announced On Oct. 23, It Seems

AllThingsD was reported, Apple will hold a special event this month for smaller iPad, which is dubbed as iPad mini. on Oct.23. After the next generation iPhone is out the door and sale, Apple now working on smaller iPad.

Sources say the iPad mini will feature a 7.85-inch liquid-crystal display and a Lightning connector. Another rumors is the iPad mini will be only be available as a Wi-Fi model.

“One can suspect that there will be no baseband [3G and 4G radio] processor in the iPad mini, as Apple will look to the cost reduction of eliminating that chip and the corresponding baseband power amplifiers.” writes Allan Yogasingam, technical research manager at UBM TechInsights.

Before that, Steve Jobs didn’t think that a smaller iPad was a good idea but now Apple follow tablet’s trend. Analyst said that an iPad mini would be a cheaper and more convenient alternative for educators, children and price-sensitive consumers.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 price in Malaysia

The new Samsung Galaxy Note II will be officially launched in the Malaysia now. The Note II will be available for the Malaysian consumers starting from October 19 onwards with a price tag of RM 2,299. The device will be made available through Samsung Elite Partners, Celcom, DiGi, and Maxis.

When Samsung launched the original Galaxy Note last year, it was the most powerful phone on the market but it was also criticised for being either too big to be a phone or too small to be a tablet, and its ‘S Pen’ stylus wasn’t as easy to use as the standard pen or pencil that it was touted as a replacement for. But it successfully sell more than 10 million units.

Overall, the Note is innovative and unique, and the new pen really is able to be used “more naturally and precisely”.

Samsung unveils smaller, cheaper Galaxy S III

Jeng jeng jeng. Today Samsung Electronics has unveiled a smaller and cheaper version of the Galaxy S III smartphone with the same screen size as the iPhone 5 in Germany.

The device, dubbed the Galaxy S3 Mini, features a 4-inch screen and the latest version of Google’s Android operating system. By comparison, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone has a 4.8-inch screen.

Samsung said the mini would be launched in Europe later this month but kept mum on schedules for other countries and it is expected to be priced between USD 350 to USD 430.

It is powered by the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, packed with S Voice, a language recognition software, and Smart Stay which keeps the screen lit as long as you are looking at it.

The display has a lower resolution of 800×480 pixels compared to 1,280×720 pixels, the camera is five rather than eight megapixels and the S III’s dual-core 1.5GHz processor has been downgraded to 1GHz.

The Mini’s screen is the same size as the iPhone 5 launched last month by Apple, but its reduced feature set makes it more of a corner man in the heavyweight clash between the iPhone 5 and the S III.
